Blue Ridge Pkwy test run

Lynda and I did a run to the parkway to visit friends last monday. So what car should we take? We went with the old red 67 MGB i purchased a few months ago. The car had 450 local miles and i thought it should be good to go. There was another 375 miles added to the total before we returned home that night! 6am to 8:30 pm. I think the roads going up to the parkway are better driver roads than actually being on the parkway. The scenery is better once you are up there. If you get the chance to run part of the parkway its a fun time. The B ran great from 2nd gear pulls to 70+ MPH on the interstates. Fuel mileage was just under 27 and the oil was down about 1/8th inch on the dipstick. Not bad for a beater car. I will try to add pics. Also is today the anniversary of black friday 30 years ago? Bob

Here's another view form the BRP, this unfornately was form the truck last week, when I wnet up to Twig's to nap some engine spares, but this is the vai-duct (spelling) a curvey part of the Parkway which is a bridge hanging off the side of the mountain.

That's the Linn Cove Viaduct. Been in many a car ad. My wife and I were camping in the area late one summer and Hyndai was shooting an ad for their new Scoupes. Remember those?

Bob....do you mean 10 September 1979, which was known as "Black Monday", the day the decision to close MGB operations at Abingdon was made public?

On Wednesday, 22 October 1980, just over a year after the Black Monday announcement, the last 2 MGBS were completed.
