August 30 (The day the house closes BTW) will be a combo Blue Moon and supermoon - which will not happen again in our lifetimes (or this century whichever comes first :D)

Might get out and try a landscape Moon shot. Super moons are always amazing to see (the fact that it's a blue moon is really not relevant to how it will appear in the sky. Here's a Super Moon I shot a few years ago.

Ever since Jim Carrey was forced to take God's place.
I was going to say 'kids these days'

Back when I was a kid and I hung a moon it was just an ordinary moon like every other moon that every other kid was hanging, but now! Now everyone has a supermoon. :rolleyes2: :ROFLMAO:

The Lake Wobegon effect:

The characterization that all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.

Thank you, Garrison Keillor.

Went on a pre-shoot survey today. Based on planning, this shot of the Towers on Sandia Crest is taken from same location I'll be shooting the super moon shortly after moon rise. This was hand held with a 600 mm Sigma lens. Distance from subject is just over 7 miles horizontal distance.

If all goes well, I hope to have a very large moon image with the towers in silhouette. Also, If I can get myself out of bed at 4AM I may also try to get another shot the morning after during moon-set, with a certain mountain formation in the image. Not sure I'm going to pull it off, but might if I can get out of bed for the 3 hour drive to the shooting location.

If calculations are correct, this should be approximate size of the moon in the image.

If nothing else your calculations prove that you can photoshop the moon into that pic, sleep in and none of us will be the wiser :D

Since this will also be a blue moon, perhaps I should drive to Kentucky to photograph it.
