little embarassed to say, after driving my 100-6 for 5 yrs,i have not i.d. the engine block.
was at a healy meet recently,of the 16-18 big healys there, not 1 of them shared a feature evident on my block?????
which is the location of the dip stick.
my stick is located well ahead of the dristributor,is higher up the block & enters diagonally rearward.the block casting is unique in this area.
the previous owner repowered to "bigger engine". there is no i.d. tag on the opposite side????

can someone tell me what i have here ??????

Sounds like a BJ8 block. A prior owner may have upgraded to a 3000 engine, how big are your carburetors? You may have an entire BJ8 motor.

All of the 100-6 2.6 liter blocks have AEC 335 cast into the driver side of the block, I do not know if the 29K and 29D(3000 MK I) blocks are the same casting, but the 29D engines have "AEC 881" cast into the driver side.

As Bob put in the link above to Clarke Spares I will also put in a great word
for him too. Todd can do your engine id tags as well as the vin plate if that
might be missing too. Does great work and good guy.

Mike

my question remains,
what does the dip stick location signify
as it is explained to me, the presence of freez plug location relative to eng i.d. tag site are consistent with 3000 engine.
as iv'e mentioned my block is cast to accommodate the stick.
what distinctive features germaine to a BJ8 block????
i was led to believe this engine was cobbled together includeing twin HD8s

Hi Daily,
Here are a couple shots of my 29K engine for reference. From a late BJ8.

yo greg,
thanks, mystery solved, my block appears as yours sans your tasty upgrades.

According to Clausager, the revised dipstick location and longer dipstck was incorporated beginning November 1993, 29K/279 onward.

It'll probably be a few weeks before I can get any "clean" pictures of this, but here's a numbers matching block from 100/6 BN4LO34099 (Longbridge era).

Mis-matched (and 3 of the 4 matching knurled) pistons; shows early dipstick tube location clearly.
