I'm not sure I'm smart enough to be driving a Bugeye, I constantly leave the turn signal on.....

I have been poorly trained my my modern luxury cars, like the '67 TR4a :laugh:
 
I know exactly what you are experiencing. With my car being back on the road only a short time, I was too concerned with other aspects of driving and would seldom remember to turn off the signal. That doesn't happen any more. I bought a small buzzer alarm module from Radio Shack and wired it in parallel with the turn signal indicator bulb. Now there is a loud reminder every time the indicator lights up. The first unit I bought was too wimpy but the one I have now is robust and still only draws a tiny amount of current. HTH
 
That turn signal indicator light on the Tunebug is quite bright, really. Hard to miss...

Maybe you just need some new glasses. :devilgrin:
 
In my case the problem was that I couldn't see the bulb. I have a new Moto Lita steering wheel that is smaller than the original one and completely blocks my line of sight to the blinker.
 
Just a thought--when I put in my new harness I stuck an LED from Super Bright LEDs in the turnsignal indicator bulb holder. Works well. It's extremely bright during the day, but positively blinding at night.

Give it a try.

Drive the Bug eye enough and you will catch yourself reaching for the center of the dash after a turn in everything!!
Caught myself doing that just the other day.
What an unnecessary mechanical compexity those self canceling turn signals are!!

Heh....beat me to it! Last year I drove the Bugeye almost everyday and whenever I got into my "normal" car and made a turn my right arm automatically extended towards the dash looking for that switch. :smile:
 
Had the same problem with my newly build Cobr* replica. Between the tire noise, wind noise and exhaust I never turned off the directionals. I replaced the flasher with a "special" one that is incredibly LOUD. I bought mine on line but they have been discontinued from the original source but I have seen similar ones at Parts America and I expect they are available from some of the routine vendors. Bob
 
On the Mini the turn signal indicator lamp is on the end of the switch stalk. With engine and road noise you won't hear the flasher (which is under the bonnet) and the small lamp is often out of sight.

My answer was to troll eBay Motors until someone selling an electronic "warning bell" type relay. The one I got happened to be from an Alfa. Anyway, I wired the bell's power wire to the indicator lamp circuit. Now when the turn signal is on I get a pleasant (although very modern) chime each time the indicator lamp flashes.

Before getting the Alfa part I tried just a regular (cheap) buzzer from Radio Shack. I forgot to tell my Mrs. The first time she rode in the car after I added the buzzer she nearly jumped out of the window at the intersection where I was going to turn. I had to find something "softer" and the Alfa part worked perfectly.

Both my LBCs have the turn signals on the right: Bugeye on the dash, MGB on a stalk on the right side (it's RHD). I've turned the wipers on when trying to signal in my Honda quite a few times.

They're overrated, Tom and will never catch on.
 
Odd. Jaguar changed turn signals to left side on RHD by at least early 1960's.
My Willys, when we had the Flathead 4 banger in it (with exhaust through glasspack out right behind driver's door) put a key warning buzzer I snaged from a wrecking yard (for free) in the wiring.
The kids, growing up, were convinced (with a little help) that there was a bumblebee in the dash.
