Printer driver (6500a) wont install because it cant find the printer and the "help" program finds the program and wont help because it says the software isn't installed......
If HP just let you force the the software to use the correct IP address it would work in a second, but they seem to want to protect the customer and instead just make it all not work. Last HP printer I buy.
 
HP is just ~EVIL and WRONG~!!

Go with Lexmark.
 
And when all HP dual (color and B&W) printers use <span style="font-style: italic">a little bit</span> of color whenever printing only B&W to effectively, ultimately drain your expensive color cartridges. This is an expensive PITA that has caused a large class-action lawsuit that if you participate you get, what, all of maybe 20 bucks from.
 
Don't even bother wfift.

Get a laser printer and cut yer losses.

Actually ALL inkjet printers need to spray a bit of ink (all colors) every so often otherwise the head will get plugged up. The damage varies between repairable and junk time.
 
No idea why but suddenly the printer driver installed properly and the printer started to work.

I did get a useless answer on the HP forum. Someone wrote back wishing me luck and telling me I was probably doing the install correctly!

Ironically I like the printer, it is one of the larger inkjets, with separate tanks for all 4 colors and has worked really well, and the cartridges last a reasonable amount of time.

Doc, laser printers are great but I want color and the scanner. I do have color lasers at work. They are great, but the toner is a fortune.
