"Black Box" A/C batteries?

My dad said something about some Indian fellow invented some type of electrolisis a/c current generating "battery". It usues to metal plates and some type of acid. It has been on the news a few times. Anyone know anything about what he's talking about?

From what he said it's not a hydrogen generator.

I always thought that you need some sort of inverter or oscillator circuit to change the DC to AC. Never heard of a direct system. Of course, that doesn't mean that it's not possible. :smile:
