BJ8 top installation

Got new top in yesterday, staz fast canvas, never installed canvas top. Mounted the rear pretty easy and did the side pieces under the aluminum. I stopped there because I remember there is some strapping that runs to header. Didn't see any holes in bars for strapping to rivet to. Anyone got picture of strapping. Would there be a youtube out there for top installation.

Marv, looks nice. Where did you get the top? You had asked me where mine came from, but mine was custom made.

The webbing runs from the front wood header and picks up two of the top frame rails . Its fastened to the furthest back rail above the rear window with rivets and two half pipe type brackets to trap the fabric to the rail . The middle frame rail gets wrapped with the tails of fabric hanging down inside the top . Its just glued inside the fabric tube you create by wrapping the fabric over the rail .
The lengths of the webbing are sort of critical in the way they pick up the frame rails so they are spaced correctly to get the top the right shape when its up .

My top frame doesn't have any holes in it except on the second bar from the window. From what I can find pictures of, there should be holes in the bar by the window. I find I do it with what I have.

Almost done. My original header seal went across the header and down both sides of frame over the windows as one piece. Is that correct.image.jpg

Thanks Randy. thats how I did straps. The rubber seal that goes across over w/s and then around window glass. The one that was on the car was all one piece but looked at another car, it was three pieces. Which is correct.

Sorry I can't help with the top but, you really should enter your shop in the Classic Motorsports magazine, 'Show Us Your Shop' contest.
