BJ8 Moss Carpet

I am replacing the piece of carpet that goes against the back wall under the rear seats to the floor. I replaced the rest of the carpet pieces awhile back but didn't do this piece because I needed to remove the 4 studs for the tonneau cover and the rear seats, necessitating the removal of the rear wheels. Anyway, I have put it off until today. The new Moss piece extends up under the seats, actually to the seat seals and about 3 inches farther in the middle of the seats and on both sides. The old piece that I removed was cut off at the bottom of the seats. Of course, I can cut off the excess from the moss carpet, but the question is, should I cut it or leave it under the seats. Except of a small area between the seats, it doesn't show at all, and even that part just covers the vinyl between the seats. This isn't a particular big deal, but I would like to do it correctly.
