Hi, I have a bj8 and am replacing my intake / exhaust manifold gasket, and the intake gaskets thru to the carb. I have a question on the types of gaskets used when replacing the gaskets between the intake manifold, spacers, heat shield, and the carbs.
The previous rebuild had gaskets in this order. 1) Between the intake manifold and 1/2 inch thick spacer. This was a thick gasket with one metal side. 2) between the spacer and heat shield, a thin paper gasket. 3) between the heat shield and carb, a flat paper gasket that is an hourglass shape.
Is this correct? If not, what is the correct type of gasket and in which order? One person I asked said there should be two thick gaskets on either side of the spacer.
