BJ8 intake manifold measurements

I am restoring a 60 BT7 and considering switching to BJ8 carbs. A lister gave me 2 used carbs to be restored and what he thinks is a BJ8 intake manifold. The ports on the carbs measure 2." The ports on the manifold measure 1 3/4." Do I have another BT7 manifold for the HD6 1 3/4" carbs instead of a BJ8? If one opens up the manifold ports to 2" is that all that is required to accommodate the HD8 carbs? Is the internal chamber in a BJ8 manifold the same as a BT7 manifold-just port opening size difference? Thanks.

Yes Lin, you can open up the port size but it just may be a BJ7 intake manifold and thats ok too.--Fwiw---Keoke

Ok, I did a little research and now my curiosity is piqued! Graham Robson in "The Big Healeys" says, "Although an identical 'looking' inlet manifold was retained, it was modified in several respects to take account of the fact that twin 30-degree semi-downdraught 2" HD8 carburettors were fitted."

In Bill Emerson's book, Bill states, "the carburettors were matched to an internally redesigned intake manifold..."

So, does anyone know what these modificatins were outside of the ports being opened to 2"?
