BJ8 front bump stops

What's the height of the original front rubber bump stops. I received a set from Moss today. Moss ones are 2 1/2", ones that were in my car were 3 1/2"

My understanding is the bump stops are there just in case the car bottoms out. So they should not come in contact very much. Well it seems the bump stops have been making contact, for both are cracked and split open. Don't know if they were the originals from 64 or not. Hence why I'm asking what the original size was.

If the correct size is 3 1/2" and I now have stops that are one inch shorter, I am concerned that the 2 1/2" may not make contact if the coilspring gets fully compressed.

Anyone have 2 1/2" stops in their car? Is it big enough to keep the spring from compressing fully?

I happened to measure the coilspring while it was out. It's 10".
Assuming that's correct, unless someone says differently.

Mine happen to be sitting on the garage floor right now, and I'm positive it has the original bump stops and springs. Bump stops measure ~3.25 and the springs ~10.25.
