BJ8 foot well panel photo request

64BJ8. Hi all,

I am getting ready to re-install my two inside foot well panels on my BJ8. My left and right panels are each is held in by 3 screws, as marked with green tape, see attached photo. The PO wraped the leading edge of each around and the metal edge, then glued it. Then the Bristleflex will press over that edge.

I have seen other cars with more screws used in those panels. For instance, screws used in the middle of the panels too.

Being I am reinstalling per what the PO did, is mine correct? If not, could someone post a photo showing how many screws and where they should be. Also, does the leading edge get glued around the leading edge?

Thank you, Roger

Hi Roger, saw your post, hope this doesn't add to the confusion as mine 66BJ8 may be all wrong but thought I'd at least provide a sample...first is driver's side lower
DriverDownLeft.jpg
then driver's side upper
DriverUpLeft.jpg
then passenger side lower
pass2.jpg
and finally pass side upper

Anyway good luck with your installation /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Hi Velox,
I was just about to write, that this is the first post of mine, where no on commented.

Thank you for taking the time to attach those pictures. Very nice.

And your spot on, yes you have added to my confusion. In a good way of course.

Anyone: what's the answer about how many screws and if they are only on the edges, also in the middle, if so where?

As you know, this is a learn as I go. I appreciate all the help I get here along the way. Cheers, Roger

Hi Roger,
I just replaced the kick (foot well) panels on my ph 1 BJ8. At the top of each panel a bolt passes through the side windshield frame and through the very top of the kick panel, into the instrument panel. I had to make that hole in each kick panel. Mine is a Moss kit. There are one or two holes in the fiberboard under that for the other windshield frame nuts to fit into the kick panels, but those bolts do not penetrate the foam or vinyl. On the driver's kick panel, there were no screws at all. On the passenger kick panel, I had just two screws, centered above and below the cut out. My kick panels were original.

Well that matches up with what I found, there are no screws I could see on my driver's side panel either /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Thank you Velox and Shorn!
As always, I appriciate your taking the time to reply.
