BJ8 Door Latch

I am adjusting the door latches on my 1967 BJ8. I cannot get them to latch right. Are there any tricks to doing this? I went to a car show and saw 8 Austin Healeys like mine. Only one had a door latch that operated correctly. The others you had to slam a couple of times to get them to latch. Mine, you have to slam them shut and then they usually pop back out part way.

Thanks,

Larry

I had some problems due to the weather stripping especially the ones that go over the hings at the front fenders. I think the stuff Moss sells is too thick.

While sitting in the car or looking in the window can you see any contact with the weather stripping? It doesn't take much contact to push and keep the door form closing. If you move the latch you may loose the line up. Also there is a little spring hidden under the stricker which slides that may be buinding. WD-40 fixed mine up. Lots of trial and error. Good luck.
