BJ8 air from heater cable routing?

I installed the dash in my BJ8 yesterday and the "air from heater" cable had such a tight "S" bend that it will not work. With the cable fairly straight it works fine. Is there a trick to routing the cable? Thanks for your help!

John

Ho John I do not recall a problem with this cable. You might try a different position along the cable for the clamp amd be sure it is not snugged down to tight.--Keoke

Hi John,

As Keoke pointed out, it's all about how you route the cable. You've got the demister tubes in the way. Then do you route it under or over the windscreen wiper box's long tube. Then when you get to the clamp on the heater box, make sure it's in the fully open or closed position when you attach the cable as it applies to the open or closed position on the dash side. Sometimes the cable will get twisted and that makes leveling the writing on the knob off. Oh the fun goes on and on. But like most things with the Healey, patience and persistence will prevail.

The trick.....no trick, no treat either.
Good luck,
Roger

Just finished freeing up all three of my controls. I pulled each inner cable out a hit it with steel-wool (lots of crud), lubed them up anb back in they went. Even the heater blower vent works great.

My cable may be the wrong length. It is only 13" long from the face plate to the end of the outer cable. Due to this short length when it is attached to the faceplate it has to bend sharply directly down to attach to the heater inlet. There is no way it would reach as far as the windscreen wiper tube. I have two of them and they are both the same! It does touch the dimester tube slightly. Thanks for your help and have a good day!
