BJ7 Won't Start

Hi all, after revision I recently started my BJ7 engine for the first time and it ran perfectly. Now, after it has been standing idle for some weeks, there is no way I am able to start it again.

I have checked fuel (ok), ignition (a bit yellow spark), and compression (ok). The starting motor turns powerfully, but the engine does not start.

When I then wait a moment and try starting it again there is a moment when it seems like it will start, but after that moment the starting motor keeps spinning without starting.

Anyone a suggestion what to check? Thanks for your support.
 
Not sure what "revision" you did before starting it a few weeks ago?

What, if anything, have you done to it since it ran a few weeks ago? I always look to the last work I have done that could be the problem.

Have you confirmed the jets are fully dropping when you pull the choke knob? A brief attempt to start then nothing suggests the choke may not be doing its job.
 
Hi, the engine was fully overhauled including new pistons and professionally refurbished carbs.
Since the last time starting, I overhauled the differential and rear suspension. I also exchanged the cable running from the battery to the solenoid.
The voltage at the ignition coil is around 9 to 9.5V when starting motor turns.
 
If you've got spark at the plugs then the problem is fuel delivery. Have you popped the tops off the float bowls? What type of float valve do you have, needle or Grose? Does your fuel pump run rapidly when you first turn on the ignition, then slow to a 3-5 second interval after 10-15 seconds?
 
You noted a "yellowish" spark? If all the fuel items mentioned are OK, then take a better look to ignition items; coil? Hot snappy blue would be a nicer ignition to have.
