BJ-7 door finisher plate [lock side].

The aluminum finisher plate on the latch side of the door opening does not fit satisfactorily and, due to modifications, the bolt holes to attach the latch are in a different place than original. I would like to find the bump textured aluminum of which they are constructed so I can fabricate one for each side with the correct fit & bolt hole openings.

Any tips?

Thank you,

Robert

Hi Robert,

The Kilmartin Automotive Sheetmetal (KAS) panels come without any holes drilled in them and must be trimmed/drilled/filed to fit (having your originals as patterns will help). I 'think' what Moss carries is KAS but it would advised to check with them first. They probably only sell them as a set but some of the smaller 'Healey only' suppliers might have them separately.

Cheers,
John

Thanks John but what I'm looking for is the actual sheet aluminum, a piece approx 2'x3' so I can make one panel for each side and custom fit and drill them.

Hi Robert,
I've bought textured sheets from a local metal supply store. There may be one in your area. The sheets come from a company called Rigidized . The 7.DL pattern looks sorta similar to what you are looking for. You can get samples from them. Also, it looks like this pattern is in stainless, but they should be able to make it in aluminum. If you order from them directly, it may come it a 120" long sheet, FYI. The sheets where I shop are 4’x4’, a little more manageable.

Kilmartin automotive sheet metal sells these finisher panels individually as well as in sets. You can also request them oversized for correct fit. Also, they have no lock holes for correct drilling after modification of placement/
