Went camping over the Labor Day weekend at one of the most remote places in New Mexico - the Bisti Badlands. Went hiking and took lots of pictures. I had wanted to do some Milky Way photography, but alas, I had brought the wrong Arca plate for the tripod I had and could not get my camera to properly mount (dumb mistake). I did manage one shot while I held the camera on the tripod by hand and did some light painting (see last picture). Our nigh hiking was also interesting.

I made a new friend, Lyle from Colorado, after I helped him out with a flat tire (which I also had the day before). He was the only other person out there camping in the same general area. Let's just say it was a memorable weekend.

The first area of weird formations - the good stuff is a few miles further out.

My son adds some scale to the place.

Very cool and stunning shots. I truly hope all that natural beauty remains that way. There's been too many idiots doing damage or spray painting graffiti on natures beauty.
Love the pics!

Agree with you on that! But unfortunately, even difficulty in getting there isn't preventing the current Mount Everest problem.

Pre planning for a trip out there should be priority.
Well he did have a spare, but two flats! By the way I had a flat the day before and was running on a spare also. Would have been SOL had I had a second flat too! I'm buying a tire repair kit and a compressor before next such trip.

Beautiful shots, Basil. Love the desert -- haven't made it down south in UT yet this year but hope to get there in the next few months.
