Since they won't be installed for some time, is there anything I should check? I have a letter from the guy explaining what he did. I don't know if I want to wait a few months, go to install them and something not be right, but what can I look for?

Pretty-shiny bits? Spring covers on the lines from float bowls to jets new? Pistons slide up and down smoothly (without oil inna slides they'll "clunk" noticeably)? Without partially disassembling them, and measuring float settings, you'll just have to expect. Seal 'em in gallon size Zip-Lok bags an' wait.

HI JB, put them back in the packing they came in and place them in a warm dry place in the house. Do not pack them in any form of sealed plastic container they will sweat.---Keoke

They were packaged up in bubble wrap. Should I just wrap them up in newspaper and store them? Dahubby has them out on his workbench. I'll go bring them in.

Carbs sitting on a shelf for any time will need rebuilding again when you put them on the car..at least some of the seals will dry out - regardless of how you store them....everybody is giving you valid guidance on how to protect them....however, why protect them? Put them on your other car & drive 'em! Then when you're rady to put them on Binbox, they'll be a proven set

...or you could build another set for Binabox.

I told dahubby that exact thing Tony!!! I already have a set being rebuilt for Emma, but there's no reason these (Beena's) can't go on Emma, temporarily if nothing else.

Thanks. Now that a guy said that, maybe we can get them on a car! Because I don't forsee them going on Beena before spring or summer. (but that's another whole story)

JB,The Bubble wrap is ok for shipping and for the short time you plan on having them uninstalled, I still suggest storing them. Consider,How long a manufacturer has new carbs in his bin and then ships them to a LBC supplier that has them on the shelf for an undetermined time before they are sold and the seals etc do not perish.---Keoke

Shazam! And all at once there was this huge explosion and lots of smoke and sparks. The wind shrieked and I was scared to death, but when I opened my eyes I found myself in a calm, sweet smelling magical place called Basil's MGB Den or something along those lines. There were familiar names all around, and best of all, it was one more opportunity to run my mouth. Life is really GOOD!

I ship stuff all over the planet Janel and I can tell you with great authority that you should and you should not put the carbs in a big baggie. You should not unless you do something about the ambient moisture that is going to fill the bag up all around the carb. You should if you use some desiccant. Desiccant is the stuff that comes in those little bags along side the electron microscopes and geiger counters that dahubby keeps getting in the mail. Don't have any? I keep a drum of them on hand all the time. You never know what you're going to need in the middle of the night. If you PM to me with your mailing address I'll send you some, in a baggie of course. Then when you stick the carbs in the huge baggies along with the desiccant bags the moisture will go to the desiccant instead of mussing up the new "do" on the carbs. JACK!!! Welcome!

hmmm... HOW shiney is it? Think about hitting the dash pot with some Brasso or NeverDull before putting it in a desicated baggie?

*thinks to self* wow... a typo could really change the meaning of that sentence... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Welcome to our humble abode, Jack! Glad you found your way here and hope you enjoy the place. If you need any help with doing things here, don't hesitate to ask,

Basil

Heya Jack!!!

I have the carbs in a box, surrounded by, but not wrapped in, newspaper. In the top of my closet. And boy does my closet stink now! New cologne Janel? Yup, eau de su!

Jack, you'll be happy here. Less stressed. Just ask me, I rarely want to kill anyone here...

Difference was, she wanted to kill somebody in St. Louis area - not on this BBS....but I bet she's got her site set of a few over on skye's site....
hehehehehehe

I don't want to kill the guy in STL, just knock him off the list at John's shop!

As far as a few at Skye's place...an hour with me, a short lesson in life according to Janel, and those guys would be snivelling fools. Misogynics.
