Many of us live in metro areas. I drive the expressway
several times per day.

Most of the vehicles are huge SUVs with one single person
inside and usually yackin' on a cell phone. It takes
60 minutes to 90 minutes to drive the ten miles into San Juan.
So that's like what 7 mph average and several gallons of fuel?

The Big Three need only look at past technology to pull
themselves into the here and now where fuel is gold and
metro area speed almost impossible anyway.

Here's technology that is proven and already exists:

Now imagine that car with a solar panel on top, a hybrid motor getting 80 mpg burning used KFC oil, and that is what congess would come up with to save the Big 3. They could call it the Gore Bailout Zero polution car.
 
It cannot be sold here as it would not pass any of the country's saftey laws. Oh, wait, that vehicle would be considered a motorcycle...

In Metro areas thay could easily post 10 mph lanes on the expressway,
to be used only by single or double occupancy, extreme low weight vehicles.

In almost 20 years of driving to San Juan in the fierce traffic, I have yet
to see a serious accident.

The extreme vehicles you posted are awesome. I was aware of a few.

But still,
you confirm my point. Small vehicles for one or two people currently exist.
And Don is dead on center with a light weight, multi-fuel vehicle. The technology
exists and I'm just sick and tired of the Big Three crying the blues.

Use some that huge bailout fund and buy licences to manufacture existing small
vehicles from other countries.

Nice expensive play toys. There's one made here, it's not in the photos, and sells for $50,000 plus. I guess the plus is if you want a radio or not. I figure if you can buy a family oriented car for around $25,000, you get a heck of a lot more safety, (More iron around you), a much more comfortable ride,

(Old bones you know) and buy the time you burn up the extra 25Gs in gas, the car and maybe I, will be ready for the junk yard anyway. BUT, for a play toy, I think their pretty neat!

I really think these concept three-wheelers are neat. However, what happens when you have an encounter with dumb bubba in his FUV or pickum-up truck? :frown:
 
Don't worry about the details . . . petroleum prices/availability will ultimately make our decisions for us.

You won't see big SUVs and pickem-up trucks on the road when gas prices head back up to the european price levels - $6-$7-$10 per gallon.

Then, the fuel efficent vehicle race will begin. The auto manufacturers know that they cannot sell highly fuel-efficient vehicles when gasoline is cheap and readily available.

Petroleum is the focal point for the fuel-efficient vehicle market: those big SUVs and truck will disappear <span style="font-style: italic">like a puff of smoke </span>when the gas prices goes up to stay. And, those "toy" cars pictured above will become the hottest item in the marketplace.

You might just wanna start buying stock in some of those "toy" vehicle makers! I predict that a select few of them will make a lot of money. :yesnod:

auto player during the next decade. They have new
petro-free fueled vehicles NOW!!

Watch Tata over the next two years. If
they open a dealership in the British Virgin Islands-
I'm gonna buy one!!

Just my oppinion but I feel the whole problem is the "fuel" and not the internal combustion engine. As we all know, the internal combustion engine will and can run on a variety of fuels. We just need to find a substitue for the fossil fuels which we use today. Even the big SUV's could be acceptable IF we had an alturnative fuel.
No darts please :nonono: Just my oppinion.

Buy 2 then you can say that you have a pair of Tata's.
 
I have always liked the trike concept, but as we all know, it is not "new and revolutionary", is it?
