well friends here i go again!after owning most ever type healy ever made i found an original 63 bj7.no mods no rust the cleanest on ive ever seen!after a 35 years of not owning a healy i just had to have this one,ill be the second owner, there is somthing to be said about never driving these cars in rain, snow or salted roads and always keeping them in a heated garage.it needs a new carpet, front seat covers and center arm rest, yes thats right thats all it needs.looking for these parts i came across MOSS's site, the prices just blew me away although the quality is there,i plane on buying all the parts new,but please i dont want to have to sell a kidney to do so,are there any other places that offer the afore metioned bits for at least a little less money and not have them look like jc whitney generic stuff?any help would be most appreciated.how could i have gone without a big healy for 30+years?astounding!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If it's any consolation, Moss' prices are perhaps half of what Heritage trim costs. The interior is the last major purchase(s) I need for my Healey.

Hello Anthony,
Tom's Import Toy Sales, sells Moss products at 15% off list price. Tom is a very informative Healey owner too. https://www.tomsimport.com/new/parts/index.asp

You'll be able to keep your kidney, and if you have any back pain, it may dissappear, like mine!

I am a new 64BJ8 II Healey owner. I've noticed that my back pain is going way now that I've been restoring my new pride and joy. You see, my wallet no longer puts a strain on my lower back, being it no longer has the weight of cash in it.

Congrads on your new 63BJ7. Good luck. Roger

Hi Randy,

Who told you that? I just received the latest prices from both and they are about the same. Most items are 10 to 15% more for Heritage Trim but some are less. I just returned a Moss Tonneau cover because the zipper was not brass, the fasteners were generic (not lift-a-dot type) and the jute padding at the back didn't look correct. The Heritage tonneau is correct and less expensive than the Moss. I wish I had known about Heritage when I installed my leather interior a few years ago.

Of course, if you have Heritage install your seats/interior the price will be at least double but they sure do a nice job.

Cheers,
John

Hi John,

Funny how that works out; price increase cycles & intervals.

Last time I looked, certainly over a year ago now, the Moss items looked good by price comparison to Heritage. I haven't compared them since.

I do recall though, comparing prices for Healey and MGB parts through several of the major mail order outlets in years past: one company may have a clear lead one year, then the others catch up and sometimes surpass. And then a while later the company blazing the trail (who's prices may not increase for a few years) winds up being the lowest priced for a given component. Watch the trends over a few years and you'll see what I mean.

But the point is, it pays to shop around. And in your case (or anyone else doing a truly accurate restoration) the supplier to the vendor can be more of a concern over parts accuracy/quality than price.

Hi Randy,

Yup .. good point. Could be that Heritage's prices were higher and they decided to be more in-line with Moss to get more sales. Anyway, I do use Moss for parts (a lot!) and it's just part of the game to find the vendor that has what you need. Good luck with your interior!

Cheers,
John
