Gerard, Dave from WC vintage races was at the Mitty at Road Atlanta. I installed several of this big brakes kits, this was originally done for SCCA FP Spridgets, now all SCCA Spridget race cars can do it, they are far from bolt on, because of the inconsistent MG castings, I've had to make good use of my milling machine and lathe everytime I do one of these.
Well, as of today, still no return call.
You comments have me concerned as I don't have either pierce of equipment at my disposal. At this point, I'm looking at ordering the Minimania kit.
If we're still talking about the Spitfire rotor/MGB caliper big brake kit, it's just a simple adapter that bolts to the Spridget hub, then accepts the Spitfire rotor, they are all the same, no matter who you source them from, MM , or otherwise, we've even made our own adapter in the past, the fitment issue has more to do wth the varying sizes of factory castings, not the adapter, in otherwords it's a car thing, not a adapter thing. Personally I would never waste my time doing this to a Spridget street car, no matter how much you evlove the car, perforamcne wise, the factory front dis brake as fitted work, and lock up the front wheels, what more could you ask front brakes to do. When I race in SCCA HP, I had to retain stock brakes and they worked fine, even under hard race conditions.
Doing this regardless of what a vendor might tell you is not for the average nut and bolt guy, if you don't have machiningg skill, or access to them, don't do it, plain and simple, it was designed for SCCA racing in FP Spridget making 140 horsepower and going 130 mph, it was never intended for the street, not is there a need for it. if one does a bigger front brake set up, they do it for bling, and if I were doing it for bling, I would look at kit like Peter May's kit, that use Willwood calipers, and if were going to do this mod, then I would for sure upgrade the master cylinders as well.
