I put on my air filters, (1970 1275) and what was running smooth, now backfires and hesitates. What adjustment should be made, I guess carbs, but is it too rich or too lean?
 
Not sure what you were running for filter and housing before (if any), but my guess is that the air/fuel mixture if off and you'll need to tune to carbs to compensate for what is now likely a rich mixture.

I'd get a couple other opinions before I started fooling arond with the carbs first though...
