TR2/3/3A bezels off the switches

Too cold around here for body work without a quality heating system, so I moved to the dash gauge and switch cluster. It has been a while since I tried to get the old bezels off the old switches, so I am looking for suggestions. I did see a tool for sale, but not sure on that either.

SP53,

I used a tool called a "Lens Spanner" to remove the bezel nuts on my TR3. There are several styles of the tool available. The one I have is similar to this one https://www.amazon.com/Micro-Spanne...&qid=1484846231&sr=8-56&keywords=lens+spanner.
Picked mine up in the late '80s when I was working with optics, so I don't remember the brand or model #. Make sure the spanner you get has blades rather than pins for turning the bezel.

Moss sells a tool for this (I do not have one though):

My ghetto fix was to make a drift from half of a springy wooden clothes pin. The wood used in clothes pins is pretty stout and the ends are fairly squared off. I get the end into one of the notches on the bezels (at an oblique angle) and lightly tap the drift with a hammer to get the bezel to turn.

If you try this - don't get carried away swinging a hammer in front of the instrument panel.

I made tools similar to the Moss units, by filing down the end of a bit of pipe.

If your hands are steady, you can try using the tip of needle nose pliers. But I decided that was a bad idea for me, the first time they slipped and left a big gouge in the paint.

Good call --ALL 4--. I was able to make a verity of wrenches to fit all the bezels with an old broken snap ring too from HF. Glad I saved it.
