TR4/4A Best SU overhaul service to use?

I've had the SU carbs broken down into various stages of repair before and they aren't really that complicated but after sitting for so many years thay need a lot of work all at once including shaft and bushing replacement. So this time I think it best I send them out for a professional makeover. Brittish Classic Motors used to be nearby but as luck would have it, moved operations to the UK this year. I've researched and it seems like lot's of places advertise SU recuild service but does anyone have any tried and true reccomendations on who best to send them to?

I think I would recommend Joe Curto Inc.

Joe Curto is excellent and Paltech has a great reputation as well.

As above, Joe Curto.

However, if you are looking for someone local to work on your carbs, call Butch McKenzie. He owns or owned Imports Europa on Cobb Ave. Burlington. Butch knows his stuff.

Thanks all...I ran across Curtos' website in my research and was leaning that way..And thanks Doug for the heads up on the local guy..I'm relatively new to the area and still almost need gps just to get out of my driveway so slowly getting a handle locally on who does what and where..did find a machine shop very close by.. from what I can tell, the guy seems to know what he's doin..at least he stays extremely busy so that's a good sign I guess..

Welcome to Burlington. I used to work there until about 18 years ago. I always enjoyed being in Burlington. I hope you come to like it also.

One set was rebuilt by Joe. They seem to operate well, looked good and received a pin and a coffee cup.The second set was done by a guy in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, I don;t have the a connect for him right here. The carbs were returned looking good and performing well. No pin or cup but the cost was less than the Curto rebuild. I wold recommend either.

T.T.

Joe currently has my SUs and I should be getting them back soon. I'll report back when I get them installed. Be aware that he has a good 8 weeks lead time.

Watched Joe Curto's youtube presentation of how he replaces the bushings and shafts and decided it was a no brain needed decision..Boxed my carb bodies up and sent them off to him today... I had already purchased the overhaul kit without the bushings and shafts so I'm just having him replace those. Cleaning and polishing not an issue since I spent the best part of last week doing that. The bowl lids were an exceptional p-i-t-a but it all turned out nice..wouldn't do it again though! Hopefully, by the time I get them back, I'll be ready to start the engine for the first time in 20+ years..
