Spitfire Best place to find a Spitfire/GT6?

Aloha everyone,

Its been a while since I've posted here on Britcarforums, but I've been in training with Uncle Sam's Army for the past 6 months. I'm interested in getting that little sportscar I've wanted for so long and I'll be allowed to have a personal vehicle at my next post, so I want to start the search now.

I would like to know the best place to find a Spitfire or GT6. Right now I'm stationed in Arizona, but I'll be in Monterey, CA in about a month or so. Are there a lot of local clubs in any of these areas that can help? Any online resources? I don't want to just buy the first thing I see or settle for something I haven't had checked out by the knowledgeable folks on here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mahalos,
Joel

If you ever get based at Ft. Sill, give me a holler, I know where there is a GT6 about half a mile from my house, and I may end up getting rid of one of my Spitfires.

Thanks for the replies.

Walter - I did my basic training at Ft. Sill. I was last stationed there in November.

Geo - do you have any links to clubs in the Bay Area since that's where I'll be stationed next?

Mahalos,
Joel

Paul Tegler's website has good links for "for sale" items:

Also, EBay is easily the biggest marketplace for cars sales. However, as we all know, one must take utmost care in purchasing anything on EBay. I've seen some very nice looking GT6s on EBay, sold one there myself.

My advice, develop a budget for your restoration and buy the best possible example you can afford. If you're patient, you can find one into which someone else has "invested" too much money. Those are among the best deals.

Good luck!
