Are the expensive gear lubricants worth the money or should I stick with 85/90 GL5. Should i worry about brass sycro degradation?

I had a can of the correct spec GL4 but it seems to have gotten used for something else. Don't remember where I got the factory specs for it now anyway.

I've used 85/90 GL4 gear oil from NAPA, and I've used Redline MT90. I can't really tell any difference.
It make make a difference depending on the condition of your gearbox.

I too have been using Sta-Lube 85/90 GL4. Meets Datsun recommendations and is reasonably priced. Got mine at NAPA as well.

Paul A. used whatever GL_* is specced, but asked if the car would be used in COLD weather. If so then he would put in Redline MT90. Since he tore them down on a regular basis I trust what he did. .. To put it shortly, you can't go wrong with the Redline.

Used box, condition unknown. Only test will be when the engine runs! When I look at it that way I guess the cheap stuff makes sense.:rolleyes2:

Ordered the Red Line since I couldn't even find someone who had or would get GL 4 locally. So, I'm paying 4 times more!
