Best Childhood friend died

I just learned from my Sister, who keeps tabs on happenings back in my boyhood town of Bridgeport WV, that my best friend as a boy growing up in Bridgeport has died. Some of my fondest memories of my early childhood were of Jimmy and I racing around on our bikes all over Bridgeport and playing Wiffle ball with the wheelchair-bound kid with MD who lived next door to Jimmy.

After we moved away when I finished 6th grade (Dad was Army), I didn't keep in touch with Jimmy. It wasn't until I learned of his death and looked up the obit that I learned that apparently he had Autism - something that as a kid I was totally unaware of - I just thought it was Jimmy being Jimmy.
Kind of sad to learn of someone passing who was once upon a time such a good friend.

Man, so sorry to hear that. My childhood besty sucks now....well, he kinda sucked then too.

I'm sorry to hear that Bas.

Stinks. Sorry to hear that.

Thanks guys. Though we didn't keep in touch when I moved away, I have some very clear and distinct memories of Jimmy and I ripping around the neighborhood.

So sorry. Best friends are best friends no matter how long they are in your life. The mark they make on us is forever.
