Best alternator upgrade?

I think I will need to remove the spacer from the rear mounting, so the pulley does line up, but the pulley matches the Lucas perfectly.
I think the J bracket may need some attention, it clears the alternator fan bearly. We're also looking at older alternators too, which sizes are equal to the Lucas units or thereabouts without much modification or fabrication.

Somewhere, someone told me that the J-bracket from a GM alternator works fine and I was also told that your local auto parts store, NAPA I think has them. Get one. If it does not work, take it back.

Not the wire number. The alternator #. I will ask for the wire number later, after I get the alternator #. I can only think of a few things at a time and only remember less than a few, but don't remember how many that is.
