Bent bonnet

My bonnet sticks up about an inch due to some jerk pulling down on it without releasing the prop. This was the way I got the car. Does anyone have an idea as to how to straighten this without going to a body shop? (Cheaper to buy a new bonnet than pay to have it straightened).

You could put a wood block under the front edge and push down on the center (where the kink is) But be VERY careful. You coud make it worse.

Thanks, Banjo. May try that after I see what else pops up! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
Anyone else have an idea?

Guinn, if you take it to a body shop, I can just about guarantee that the first thing they are going to try is to put a wood block under the front edge and push down................
Try it, but as Banjo says, be gentle. It shouldn't take mech pressure to gently tweak it back into position.

Will try the block-and-push and I'll let you guys know how it comes out. I don't have a real garage, so I have to wait for a decent day and work outside.

Yes! The Block-and-Push worked! It didn't fair it in perfectly, but I don't need a "concours" car, anyway. Thanks a bunch, guys. See the attachment for before and after pix.
