Before and After

My mother's old china cabinet, which I salvaged out of her home before she moved to Texas with my sister (God bless my sister). The old piece was literally falling apart, not particularly fine. All the veneer had to be reglued, stripped, new legs, new back, glued and renailed. Then I went native and sprayed the whole thing black with red interior. It doesn't go in our home so my son in New Orleans will inherit it, now. Way more hours than you would know into this piece.

Thanks, and thanks all. The furniture was mass produced stuff from the 40's. Nothing special, but built better than the stuff you get today. The veneer was all coming apart. Had to glue with TiteBond III by blowing the glue up into the deepest part of the separation and using multiple clamps and a brad gun, getting it all together. Made a mistake by using latex paint. Should have use Alkyd. Lots and lots of sanding. My son will enjoy it in his sin bin.

The "Woman Cave" project here is kickin' my butt. Trying to get it done to reclaim a few cubic feet of garage now occupied by laundry machines and hot water tank. Plan was to build out the back of the garage a few feet and shove it all in there. Then came the money crash and an "all stop". Just now getting to the place where it can be finished. Built the "box" to hold the hot water tank last weekend, made a removable cover for access. Wood is 'funny stuff' to me. Built all the kitchen cabinets a few years back outta "recycled" 1/2" MDO plywood, outdated signage. It was FREE material. I really do admire the work you did, Bill. "Furniture" to me is a box with laminate on four sides and a cushion on top. I can glue plastic to wood. Finishing is an art beyond my ken.
