Anyone on this forum own one? I'm toying with the idea of fixing one up as a work vehicle (I'm a painter in the movie biz).Might be decent on gas. Did they have any weak areas? I know where there is one in not bad shape. Are parts still available? Is there a club? Cheers Karl

Go for it - I love them - there was a van for sale in Regina (not sure if a Bedford though) within the last year that had been a painters van - still had the old lettering on the side - very cool!

there is this site too

Great site JP. Had a chance to buy an A40 pickup a few years ago and turned it down, what a fool :wall:

If it was a Bedford CA van it should look like this...

There are a surprising number of Bedford's still in Canada, from when they were sold here from 1957 to 1963.

It could also on off chance be either a Thames (like you said), they also sold the Commer delivery van and Morris J2 delivery van here in Canada back then in the late-1950's through 1960's, you never know...

Just went back through my emails and the one I was talking about (in regina) was a Morris - couldn't find it online anymore though -though I still have the email if you want me to ask.

And Karl...

As for parts supply for Bedford's here in Canada, basically none unless you manage to track down a parts truck, or some Canadian who by chance has horded a few parts.

However there should be plenty of parts support overseas in the U.K., probably Australia, etc...

It's more challenging to restore the more unusual British vehicles, but if you like owning something unique that not everybody has it can be (perhaps) worth it

And there is always the option of doing an engine swap, without creating a hot rod.

Sherlock That's the van. I wonder if a TR4A engine that I have would fit in it? But then the brakes and rear axle would have to be upgraded? Hmmmnn!

In reply to JP Smit. Was the Morris van similar to the Bedford van. I am curious about the one in Regina....maybe he still has it and its not that far from Winnipeg.

you've got a PM

Grrrrrr :wall: ah well I guess we can't keep everything
