Beating a dead cam

Can anyone report on the quality of the 1500 cams sold by VB and Moss?

Can anyone reccomend a reliable source for stock cams or an affordable shop who will grind and harden my core?

I know APT is a great source for performance cams, but they do not list stock cams on their site.

I've used Crane for 'em for years with no problems.

I've used Oregon Cam Grinding, 5913 N.E. 127th Ave Suite 200, Vancouver, Wa. 98682 (Website) They charged $80 plus shipping and will do it to whatever spec you want as long as they have the right master. They parkerize after grinding.

I got lucky and ran across a Kent TH2 kit on eBay. I like the cam quite a bit. How much cam are you looking for? The Kent kits can be kinda high but there are people who can grind and nitride for reasonable prices.

$80! Holy moly! I can afford two at that price!

Thanks guys!

Parkerizing is nothing more than a surface treatment, it's Ok at best, it doesn't last long and I'll never build a engine with parkerised cam. APT does have someone local to them nitrite cams for him, I would just call them, but then again I already gave you my advice on the cams and lifters.

You know if you really want to get out cheap, just buy a good used stock cam from someone and get a normal set of lifters to go with it and that would probably be better than a non-hardened or poorly hardened regrind, I've got stock cam cores lying around, I'll sell you one, call me.
