Bearing Question

It's been awhile since I took this engine apart and even longer since I put one together. The mains are tanged. no matter how I put them together they won't match. So how are they supposed to go together, opposite sides or same side? Checked my literature but no help. I'm sure it makes a difference and I really only want to do this once.
Thanks, Tinkerman

on a TR6 engine there should be a recessed square for the tange to fit into in the block and bearing cap and the Bently book shows the tangs on the same side, if anything other than a TR6 or 250 I dont know

Sorry I should have said that this is a 60 TR3. There is a recessed square for the tangs to sit in. Just not sure if they should be opposite or same side.

Tink, put down the beer , you have had quite enough!! If the look of the main caps on a tr3 is confusing, then you should watch football.

I took your suggestion MD but last nights game was more boring than looking at the main caps. Course I also have the carbs to play with, heh.

Well! Guess what I found out today, you can't put the center bearing cap in wrong! It wont go, can only go one way. Told you it has been a long tine since I put an engine together.

Cheers, tinkerman
