Bead Blast Aluminium?

Not a dumb question at all, Doug. I frequently blast aluminum. Depending on the part and what you are trying to accomplish, be selective in your choice of media. Glass beads work well if you are trying to remove years of schmutz, whereas if you're going for a nice finish, use plastic beads or walnut shell grit. The walnut shells work well with things such as carb bodies and valve covers.
Just try to keep the air pressure down to the lowest possible setting to accomplish the task. Dial your settings in using a throwaway piece, and you should get good results. If you're doing carb bodies, make sure to clean everything thoroughly afterward, because the blast media will get into places you never dreamed of! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
Hope this answers your question.
