Which one? I have option 2 on my car - it is NOT the same as the Frontline kit but is one heck of a lot cheaper. The upper shock mount attaches to a plate which you affix to the chassis to the rear and below of the lever shock with aircraft fasteners (I used adhesive too for good measure); if you look and see how a Mini front shock attaches you'll appreciate that this is quite sound enough. With this kit the lever shock arm remains the upper control arm; with the expensive kit you replace the lever shock with a fabricated control arm. The bottom shock mount appears to be the same in both, and the end result of the cheap kit is that the shock mounts in about the same position. For racing use you'd want the Frontline, for most street use the cheap kit seems just fine -

You will find probably 5-6 notes following mine affirming our decision to stick with a tried and true design. Call Peter C up, order shocks , they will arrive in a box in several days. They are rebuilt better than new and will not leak. Put old shocks in box and they go back to Peter C. for a refund of your core charge. It is as simple as that and they WORK! No monkeying around and reengineering.

Jim, I was coming to that conclusion myself as I sat here today in the garage, looking at all the projects needing attention. I have a few sets of levers, original, ebay rebuilt etc. I think I will take the best set, put them on, take another and send to Peter for rebuild and get on with the project. Shock mods can come later if necessary.

A very wise decision. Get the car running and driving and then you can start tinkering. It took 5-6 years to be Bugsy my '68 all one color. It was more fun to drive him than take the time off of the road to paint. And then as soon as I got him all painted I changed over to a BE bonnet last summer that is still in primer and shades of rust and dents and doaesn't fit right yet. But he's being "driven ugly". We sometimes forget why we spend so my time working on these 40-50 y.o. rust buckets, because it's so Da_n Much Fun To Drive Them!!!
Get it running first and get out and drive. Spring is coming, 47 Days until Spring. Get busy people. Gotta get my basement drywall work finished in the next few weeks so I can give Bugsy some time for front wheel bearings.

Don't forget replacement of those rear shocks as well. Again the price from Peter C is right and they do not leak!!!

I met Peter C at the LotO Spridget 50th, and he is a SUPER NICE GUY who isn't just out to make a quick buck!
He is a fellow Brit Car Enthusiast (he came to LotO in his classic Mini), he supports racing activities, AND he carries many parts that are superior to those offered by the big suppliers, often at a lower price.
This is the sort of supplier that we should all support, as keeping him in business will keep our hobby alive, and keep it affordable!
I would much rather give my money to a fellow car guy, who actually wrenches on his own cars, than to some corporate entity that doesn't get their hands dirty on weekends.
Peter builds a shock that is better than new, AND he guarantees them for life!!
