What does it take to remove the knob and key barrel? I dont have the key for an old switch, but need to reuse knob.

On the bottom of the knob there is a spring loaded pin. Depress this with a small punch and the knob will slide off.

Healey on.

The lock cylinder is held in place by a little spring loaded pin. It's on the inside end, towards the bottom if I remember correctly. I haven't pulled one apart for some time, so I don't remember if there is easy access to it. As a minimum, you have to remove the knob assembly to get to it. Not difficult; just remember where the wires go. (And, disconnect the battery; these wires are HOT!) Once you remove the assembly, I THINK there is a hole where you can push the pin in, and then just pull out the lock cylinder. You might have to have the key in the lock to do this.

Sorry, I know this is vague, but it's been a while and my memory isn't what it once was.

My main concern was removing the knob. The car has not been in service since the late 60's. The old switch has been hammered on and not making good contact. I was hoping the knob was removable without the need to take out barrel. If I would have bothered to look over everything a little closer, it might have made sense if I saw a small detent hole. But is so much easier not to use my brain and just ask here.
