How do you remove handbrake from BE? Looks like one slotted screw, but the slot on that one screw is shallow and I can't really get good grip on it.

Suggestions........please.

Why am I removing it? Powder coating.

thanks,

dave in st. louis

Coming soon...Jaguar model unknown

There are either two or three screws holding the chrome part of the hand brake to a black painted box thing on the tunnel that has three screws holding it. Remove them, slide the brake lever out and remove the clevis.

Jack: O.k., that helps. So, I shouldn't have to go underneath to uncouple anything when removinig the handbrake, right?

Noop, not at at all. The cable will stay in the tunel and remain connected at the rear.

Jack.....you are an ace...sure wish you lived closer to my BE or mine to you.........thanks.....dave

Heh, I am only this far away.

Are you really powder coating the brake handle rather than chromeplating it?

Perfect Ray. Nice looking handle. Is there not supose to be a washer and cotter key on the clicker bit????

yes, power coating satin black along with powder coating gear shift shaft

...........

The enterior of your BE is a 10. I assume that it's leather.

My BE is English white with the red interior with white piping. Mine, however, is the vinal. Who knows leather could be next.........I guess Moss is the source.

I believe so, Jack. When I pull down assemblies for cleaning and priming I usually just put them back together minimally so as not to loose the orientation and small parts. Wearables like split pins and washers will be replaced at final assembly.

This lever assembly will be going back into the "Spridget Project"...a restomod of a '60s era weekend racer. I'm losing all the chrome on the car so this assembly will be black POR-15.

wow.....sure looks gleamier (?) than what I pulled out yesterday afternoon.

This assembly was pretty nasty when it came off. Fortunately, everthing inside the tunnel was covered with greasy crud...a good rust preventative. The worse part was the handle which is going to be painted anyway. A few minutes on the wire wheel and this is how it came out.
