Okay, dumb question time, maybe. With a BE and a 1275 WITH a header which exhaust pipe should I order from Moss? The one that was on the car is about 4" to short and very rusty. I might make an adapter pipe until I can get one ordered. I NEED to start this engine this weekend.

In short, none. Buy a length of pipe from a custom muffler shop and make it yourself. If it needs a bend or two bring it back and they will do it. Faster, cheaper and better in my opinion.
 
Sounds like easy and quick way out to me.

For what it is worth, I took the entire old stock exhaust system to a local muffler shop and had them match all of the bends with a new 1 7/8" set up. I took the new JC Whitney muffler with me, and the gentleman at the shop fit it right where the old stock muffler was situated. he even welded the bracket on the new muffler. Total cost, incuding JC Whitney was less than $100.Bolted right up.
 
I have the pipe in my truck with me today so I can take it to a muffler shop. I'm hoping this one straight pipe with two bends in it cost far less than that, John. The pipes from Moss only cost $25-$40. Finger crossed.

Mine was done in two pieces with a slip joint to allow for any necessary final adjustments. The slip joint was located just in front of the rear axle, right where the pipe hanger is located. The rear piece was one piece with the JC Whitney muffler welded in place. I used stainless steel tubing as well. More expensive than regular carbon steel, but will last longer.
 
I did the same thing with mine, had a few inches added, cut to fit an yeehaa.

If you are using a two piece header consider adding a brace off the rear engine plate / lower transmission bolts. I use aluminum angle to pick up the pipe and add some support so the header doesn't separate at the slip joint. The bracket will move with the engine so it really supports the header nicely.
