I put this in the Big Healey forum too, but it may get more notice here:

As we speak, I believe BCF-member, Michael Oritt is navigating in the Targa Newfoundland in a '53 Healey 100 (see picture of it below). They are running in the "Targa" catagory.

As many of you know, Micheal is an experienced vintage racer (he and I ran the 2007 PVGP)

Michael Salter is the driver. Never met him in person, but seems to be a great guy. Here is a link to the car being prepped for racing. Lots of gearhead eye candy. AHX12
 
I've met Michael Salter once (a few years ago at a Toronto car show), he was very friendly as I recall...

As for Targa Newfoundland, he has experience in the race and has competed in it before... Wish I was there, hoping to one year be at the event to take it in...

Yes Tony I did notice that too!!! That is quite a build isn't it. What a neat car!!
 
Mike Salter is a very smooth and fast driver, and the car is really quick. I was following him on the Mosport Driver Development Track, trying in vain to stay with him, when I wrecked my TR4a. His acceleration out of the corners was indicative of the kind of torque/weight ratio normally only available in a V8. The 4 wheel independent suspension is very well sorted and many alloy panels keep the weight low; on a 67 se4cond lap he was about 2-2.5 seconds quicker than me, which is basically forever!
