Oh and I just bought a brake light strobe that has two settings: one wire flashes the brake light 3 times then steady on, then repeats; the other wignal wire flashes the light 5 times then steady, no repeat. I don't know about the others, but I bookmarked pretty much all of the stuff you had there - I'm always looking for good resources like that.

My timing light is about 30 years old - that new one looks pretty slick. I'm not clear how they work on telling you advance - do you have to stick extra marks on the front pulley or something?

The third brake light piece is something I hadn't seen either. Fingers crossed, I think I'm getting a surrey backlight next weekend and I would like to add a 3rd light if possible to the frame (without modifying of course). Do you have a good source for 3rd light options?

To tell the truth, since I got that light for Christmas, I haven't used it yet. But I think it sets a memory at idle rpm, the also at running rpm to show you the advance and total advance.

There are a lot of different led brake lights out there. Just keep loking and measuring until you find one that fits the location where you want to install it. My surrey is in my barn loft (OK guys, it's locked with an alarm system!)until I get the tub done but I am interested in what you come up with for yours. Here's how our 3A light fits the rollbar. It will flash 3 times then stay on, then repeat until I lift off the pedal.

You can get the manual pdf online and check it out. I agree, it's an all-in-one tool, great for my use anyway. I would try it for you but my radiator is out while I am doing the front suspension. I had a $20 off coupon from Amazon so I paid $88.

I was just reading the pdf about advance function and it looks like you push a switch of the light, at advance rpm, until the light shows the timing mark in the initial at idle position on the pulley. It then reads-out the acutal advance. It must compensate with pulsing of the strobe to show it at initial position. Now I can't wait to try it.

I just got my Equus 5568 timing light, just like yours!
The advance feature only changes the relative timing of the light flash vs. the ignition, like the dial on the back of some older timing guns. It doesn't actually measure or calculate anything.
Does appear to be fairly well made, and having everything in one tool is convenient.

So is mine. In fact, mine is so old that it's not even "inductive"; I have to stick a little coil spring in between the plug and the plug end of the HT wire in order to connect mine! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/square.gif

Great price on GM EOS...lots cheaper than most dealers that sell it for 'retail'.
 
I just bought an infared thermometer based on BCF discussion. Haven't tried it yet. Also got some hyper lites for 3rd brake lites to install when I have the time.
