For the last 2 months my iPhone battery would not hold its charge very long. I was always tethered to an external battery. Yesterday I finally opened my phone and replaced the old battery with a new one.
It’s all back together and everything works.

Mine went black screen. First shop checked it and told be it was the main board and dead. Second shop popped in a new battery for $40 and sent me happily on my way.

I got the battery and tools to open the phone and pop off the connectors. Cost $18 on Amazon.
The battery is held in by two adhesive strips. I used an old plastic credit card to help remove the battery.
