Barrett Jackson Midget

I will be at B-J the rest of the week, if anyone wants me to go check out a car closer let me know.

:iagree:

:iagree: BUT all that would prove is that I could write a cheque.

Building it yourself and knowing every nut and bolt:
Priceless.

Nine grand, with no side moulding, an aftermarket wheel, and a Weber?

Sheesh. :nonod: I don't get why anyone doing an "extensive ground-up restoration," where money is no object, wouldn't go the extra half-mile or so and get it correct. The Weber rankles me particularly.

Bill, that "anyone" would be someone who doesn't really know their Midgets, IMHO. Plus, I'd rather have the stock carbs than a Weber any day, especially if they're HS2s.

There aren't that many small details on these cars which are relatively easy to get "correct". Plus, there's tons and tons of restoration info readily available. No excuse for not getting the car "correct".

I'm glad to see a Midget sell for that high. From what I've seen from watching ebay and Craigslist, they typically sell for less. Guess if the restoration is done well, they are at least worth part of the restoration cost. The lack of side moldings was one thing that really appealed to be with this car as they are much more attractive without the side molding IMHO. The car was built to be shown and driven, not necessarily original. I don't care for the Weber either, but my '66 Sprite restoration will consist of upgrades and updates where appropriate to have the car more reliable and more drivable at the expense of originality. I doubt the car would be worth more if it was totally original. Now if it was a BE, that's a different story.

Looks like the car market is coming back. They are original but once regardless. Survivor class is my favorite.
Restored is restored. Nice.

I'm glad my BE isn't original. It's a whole lot more fun for my purposes. Call me a resto mod fan. If I had a 1960 BE un-restored and original....oh my God.... I'd put it in glass.
Heck my ol Sprite's exhaust might shatter the glass.

Just saying...glad prices seem up in Spridget Land. :jester:

Nice looking Midget. AH had it right. No side trim.
