i am in orlando, got tons of parts im going to be listing, but like i siad i dont knwo what kind of pricing to put on the stuff, dotn want to not sell it cos im too high, but dont want to give it away either
Looks like I might have to check with Tony on a price for a hard top. Don't know yet if my "B" will justify putting money into a hardtop. But never hurts to check. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Tom
Tom - I keep a list of people looking for certain things - when I find them & they are extra to my collection, I flip 'em...you're on the hardtop list.
That'd be about right: "Buy this hardtop and I'll toss in a FREE CAR!"
I gotta find the right side "quarterlight" frame for one. Anyone know of a trashed HT?... Since they're just "frozen snot" I figure I'm gonna have a hard time finding the window frame: If a top is damaged it can be glued back together again.
I have to agree that a starting price of $700 for a factory top in need of work is just way too much money- even in Canadian dollars. I need the contact info for these swap meet buyers- I'll need to work on finding other items to sell to them.
I paid $75 for my factory top last year- it needs some seals, but most do. I think a couple hundred is a fair price. The seals alone are hundreds of dollars from macgregor- and that's before you paint it and have new side windows cut.
All the seals to do the top from MacGregor come to around $300US. Windows can be cut out of 3/16" Plexi or Lexan with a jigsaw. I used an old one as a pattern. Biggest problem I found is breaking the frame screws loose without breaking them OFF. Lost the battle with only one on each side. Drilled/tapped the "stumps" and back in business.

Theres a kind of "LBC Rapist" in my area with a pile(at least 4) factory tops sitting in a feild...I was there looking at a TD and he said he's sell me a top(I was looking for one for the LE - before I sold it) but I never contacted him for a price or anything. If anyone is interested I'll see if I can dig up a phone # or something, not the kinda place you wanna drive up unannounced.

Like I said, Doc...I've got about $500 in the one I'm restoring right now - not including the purchase price...& were it not that I wanted another Vermillion Red top like the one that came with my car when I bought it new, I'd not put that much into it! I'll probably have too much in that top when its all said & done....

If he parts out any of those tops, I really DO need a right-side quarterlight frame... Lemme know if you're inclined to go on a "mission"!!

I am not really welcome on his property(i put him in touch with a friend of mine.....long story)....but if I see him at the regular flea markets/shows with any hardtop parts I'll make sure I at least get his contact for you.
