Spitfire Ball Joint replacement on Spitfire

Ive got more confidence now, my ball joints look ok on the Spit, the boot is in tact, but im guessing they are close to original.

Removal of the upper bolts is straight forward. Are there tricks to removing the nut off the stud on the ball joint?

It should come off easily, since the shaft of the ball joint is tapered and SHOULD hold long enough to undo the locking nut.
