I offered to tow a race car that I found in the local
wrecking yard,down to Fremont,CA,for gas,+ $200.I thought
that I'd come out ahead on this deal - Wrong!
I hit a snowstorm about 1-1/2 hours South of here.I've
never seen snow in March on Highway 101.
After the snow stopped, major rain storms, almost all of
the way to Fremont.I stayed in Woodland, just North of Sac-
ramento.
In the morning,I called the 800 number for road condit-
ions - "Chains required East of Redding".
As I left Redding, the billboard read "For road -conditions tune your radio to 1610AM"- Nothing on the radio.
Then I drove about 20 miles West,& was greeted by a Caltrans
pickup,& a sign reading "Chains Required".
I drove back to Redding, bought chains ($97+),topped of
with gas (3 gallons), & returned - NO pickup, the road was wet,
but clear.I never used the new chains (NO refund),& made it
home in under 3 hours ( I made good time).
Good news is that I made it home.Bad news is that I wasted
1-1/2 hours + $97,+ $8/gas,for nothing.

Yikes! Y'all are having quite the spring out there.

Spring done sprang alright. Sprang a leak! At least the Tsunami didn't get ya like the petrol prices must have! --elrey

Glad you made it ok.. now stay out of the midwest this week.

Got socked last night and today here. I started out in the BMW for work, and after I almost piled it into 3 street signs and curbs, I turned back home, and took the truck. 35-40 mph on the 4 lane. nasty greasy snow. (Once again I'm very glad to not be working on cars today)
No one around here has chains except loggers and people driving in the woods. I've never seen a car on the road with chains on the tires. that must be a mountain thing.

Brutal day here - had to drive 60 miles for a meeting - which was cancelled when I was 15 minutes away. we had snow/ freezing rain and man was it icy! Accidents everywhere, cars in ditches and the traffic was brutal. Our tenant wrote off her little SUV, fortunately she didn't have anything more than a sore arm. I want spring to come! BTW the guy I was meeting had lost power in his house for an hour already when he called to cancel.

But, did get to take my daughter out for lunch which is always special.

High 70's, low 80's here this week.

Changes coming though....won't get out of the 60's for the week-end or next week.
