Bad water pump

OK, no laughing...

I put my cheap rebuild 1275 on my engine test stand and filled with coolant, only to have it run out from the front of the water pump shaft behind the pulley.

I had bought a new water pump from VB but it was made in India and of dubious quality. The original looked good so I decided to put it back on.

Bad decision I guess. The last time I had a water pump go bad, the bushing wad worn and the shaft wobbled badly. This one is tight. Can I rebuild it? If not , what is a good quality available pump?

Thanks
Fred

When I first ran my engine after years of sitting around my water pump leaked. When I tried to order a new one from Peter C. he said to not order it right away. He suggested that I hook it up to my electric drill and turn the pump for a while with it in place. He said that the seal would "heal" itself. I did it and the pump is still in use and working fine a year and a half later. Obviously YMMV. Good luck.
