My HP laptop keyboard went bad, might be coffee damage, I'm told they don't like cetting soaked with coffee! :unsure: Wiped everything clean, took the HD out, and the trash man got the rest. Because of my son's preference, I bought a 1TB Lenovo. All Linux, no MS Windows, no Microsoft to contend with, even has a backlit keyboard, and is very fast. Love it! PJ

When Microsoft announced they were dropping all support for Windows 10 in October, and I don't like Windows 11, which is very controlling, that's when I decided to change to Linux, which I've used in the past. It's free, and they have various operating systems to choose from. The language is a little different, but easy to learn. PJ
 
Linux is the way I prefer to go. I run dual boot on my desktop, simply because I need Windows for work.
 
I got a Windows 11 to replace a Windows 8 that failed I use plugged into the TV to play recorded TV and movies. Found when I went to buy it that there are basically 2 versions, the "default" that doesn't allow any software to be run unless it sets a "bought in the Windows store" flag and one that for a hundred bucks or so more allows outside stuff. Annoying, I never needed to worry about that for earlier versions. Course my internet machine is still Windows 7 since all I do is some browsing and just downloading TV and old movies for use with the flat screen. And the Windows 11 sometimes just stops for a few seconds or the cursor jumps all over the screen when I move it. It's not a step forward.

Why give up when Micro says they won’t support anymore? I run one old computer bcz it supports software that 10 and 11 would not, like Adobe products that they refuse to upgrade.
 
Really, I like Linux and its many benefits, and I have played with it for years, but I was hooked on the Microsoft thing. I'm all Linux now and no regrets. I have one old computer left with Windows 8 Pro on it for converting old files. PJ(y)
