Bad day in the garage

Tough day in the garage. First, discovered a large rust hole beneath the battery. PO had put a plastic tray there which obscured it. Next, went to install my rebuilt generator only to discover one of the front attachments was bent....tried to straighten and broke it off! Lastly, tried to paint my wheels with the original silver and the wind was blowing about 30 mph so that was a bust!

Driver's side rear drum was full of gear oil. No axle seal present, no o-ring in the hub and the hub seal was installed backwards. I'm continually amazed.

So I cut my losses, quit for the day, got a cold one, and got out of the 100 degree heat.

Hey Richard, hang in there. We've all been there (many of us are still there).

Just keep you mind on how much fun your car will be to drive when you get it going

Let's see:

(1) Discovered more problems with the car

(2) Broke something while repairing it

(3) Wind ruined a paint job

Yup...sounds like just another day with an LBC. Only thing that didn't happen was having a part roll away never to be found again.

As Dominic said, we've all been there and done that. That's what beer is for. Relax and learn. Next time is better. (Don't ask me how I know...)

Only thing that would make it a complete day would be to spend lots of $$$$ on parts

roll away...get real...it's those little GREMLINS...I got em in my garage too!!!

The $$$$ on the parts I have experienced many times previously and am currently making my list for new parts now. I'm sure my generator issue will cost a few bucks and there is always something I'm missing or have forgotten. I ordered pedal return springs last month and have documentation of receiving them...but they've disappeared, so ordered them again. Nothing like buying the same parts twice!

On a positive note, I did remove the rear shocks and link fairly easily and have rebuilt ones on the way from Peter C., so the day was not a total loss.

Any day in the garage is better than a day in the office!

Oh, wait, I don't have an office....heck, I don't have a job...so, I guess any day in the garage has to do!

My thoughts, precisely!

...sometimes I come out here *early* in the AM just to HUNT those li'l gremmies.... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Somebody should print up some of those "A bad day in the garage is better than...." bumper stickers!

Seriously, now you guys know why I always have a couple of projects going at the same time - problems with one, switch to the other!

But I do like the "got a cold one" option!

Yea Tony we understand, but project in the dozen??

Ah, Jack, but an artist works on what feels right at the time....

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif So true, so true...AND...cheaper by the dozen!? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Artist, who said artist. We just mech-a-nicks.

Speak fer yerself, Jack. *I'm* an ~artist~!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Watch it, copper.... I know what you're (really) sayin'. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

I ~almost~ posted that, Bubba... but figger'd it'd be bad enuff as it was. Steve rose (beat you) to the occasion. Go take a nap. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Doc's an 'artiste'....I'm an artist! Big difference!
