For all those dreaming of really driving a Healey in anger on the race track, here's one of the best on board "ride alongs" during a race I've seen in a long time.
UK racer Marc Campfield runs down the whole field at Spa in his big Healey.
Ya, those are Jaguars, Aston Martins, and Ferraris he's running away from.

Dougie,
I am worn out. Click the full screen mode - sit back and watch. I cannot imagine how one must feel after a 12 or 24 hour endurance race!

Great fun. Sorry to see the Healey and XKE have the fender bender - scary stuff.

Lin

Hey Doug,
Thanks for posting this link. Must make your heart feel good to see all the Healey's competing over at SPA. My teeth are still rattling watching him drive over the cobbles on the side of the race course.
Great stuff,
Mike

Lin,

You left out a step ... "CRANK UP THE VOLUME!" The big six sounds wonderful and I'm amazed at how fast that car is (helped by some great driving). I'd love to know the suspension set-up on that car. Thanks so much for posting, Dougie.

Hello,

amazing video !
I would love to know what this guy have done, to reach this performance. This is not only a great engine, optimized suspension and an empty car....
He has done on the chassis all weight reduce actions and not to forget he drove like a driver who has stolen the car ....great !

Bye- michel who like this videos (I'm every year at the AVD Oldtimer-GP on the Nürburgring)

Whew! That guy's hard on E-Types, but I suppose the same could be said (of the silver LHD XKE) in reverse.

You know the guy in the white 250 SWB had an Oh $hit! moment

What a ride! Thanks Dougie!

You gotta think Donald and Jeff would be given each other "high-fives" if they could see the full development of their cars. The vintage race style in Europe has always been recognized as much less "gentlemanly" then here in the US, which makes it very exciting to watch.

I think they would defintely have "ear to ear grins"...and high fives and probably beg to take the cars for a spin and who would say "no" to them?

Dougie,
Thanks for posting that was GREAT!! If anyone ever wondered about the term "driving in anger"... just watch this, it pretty much covers it!! WOW.

You gotta ask yourself, why was he starting from the back of the grid? Must have missed qualifying... he ran down everything it sight!!... including 289 Cobra. They had to be shocked to see him in their mirrors!

Cheers,
Steve

I think Marc is running straight cut gears in the "Sebring" ratio with a heavy duty over drive accumulator for instant engagement into "5th" gear.

Thanks, Dougie. Had no idea a Healey gearbox could be shifted that quick (course, I 'baby' mine). Have heard the drivetrain is good for 200HP; that car must have that (and maybe more).

Had to watch that twice. Found myself sitting on the edge of my chair leaning into corners-- what a rush!!

Thanks for sharing Dougie!

That was amazing. We should take up a collection and buy Marc an IMAX camera for his car.

Just watched this twice on a 42 inch TV that our granddaughter and her husband have hooked their PC into to watch the St Louis Cardinal games while she is stationed in Guam. (we're here to see our great grandson). Absolutely fantastic!! I would love to have been there to watch it. Incredible driving. Thanks, Dougie
