There is a "History Channel" show (or somesuch) where a bunch of grandchildren of WW-II bomber crew members got to experience Lancasters in person. That was enthralling too. Kinda in the same vein.

Very neat. I live close to the National Warplane Museum. about 2 years ago I visited there on a day when the "Aluminum Overcast" B-17 was there, and I took the ground tour, just walking through the plane. What luck, I got in line behind an old gentleman and his family and got to listen in as he told about being in a B-17 crew during the war. Too cool!

Got to go on Mimi, the last flying B-29 a few years back. Had a proffessor that was a gunner in a B-17 or B-24. Had some great stories. He said that when you pointed all the 50cals forward and opened them up, it would slow the plane down 90 MPH.

He said they'd "throw the brakes on" and have an enemy fighter fly past into a cloud of bullets.
